In the winter, fluid circulating through an underground closed loop of piping absorbs heat from the earth and transfers it to the unit. The heat pump extracts the heat and then moves warm air throughout your home. In the summer, the unit removes heat from the air indoors, transferring it to the underground loop where it is absorbed into the ground.
